With today’s [orders list](http://data.scotxblog.com/scotx/orders/2012-08-31), the Texas Supreme Court issued opinions in seventeen cases, set five cases for oral argument (into next January), and dismissed a case argued last October as being improvidently granted.

These are the “year end” orders, coming at the end of the State of Texas’s fiscal year. This is also the traditional time for the court statistics to be measured and, as such, usually results in a flurry of opinions. Last year, the Court issued [nineteen opinions](http://data.scotxblog.com/scotx/orders/2011-08-26.htm).
