SCOTXblog focuses on Texas appellate practice, with (as you would expect) particular attention paid to the Supreme Court of Texas.

For many years, the blog announced new opinion releases from the court (as well as the occasional blog post) on Twitter. I wrote code that automated that process and linked it to my databases. Sometime in 2023, Twitter broke things beyond easy repair. Today, the blog publishes the same kind of notices about opinion releases and blog posts to a Mastodon page that I can more easily control. Although there is very little law-related activity on Mastodon, you should be able to subscribe to it through a Bluesky bridge or through any other federated social-media service. The mastodon page also hosts an RSS feed of its own, with the same blog posts and opinion releases.

Email updates are currently paused. If you like the idea of future email updates, you are welcome to add your you name to the blog’s existing email list.

If you want blog posts, but not the announcement of new opinions from the court, you can use this RSS feed.

About the Editor

I’m Don Cruse (firm profile), the person behind the blog.

My first job as a lawyer was as a briefing attorney at the Supreme Court of Texas. After a few years working as a commercial litigator at a national law firm, I returned to Austin to handle appeals within the Solicitor General’s division of the Texas Office of the Attorney General.

I now handle appellate cases in private practice, in Texas state and federal courts.
